On Friday, March 11 eleven brave Medford High School seniors took center stage in the Caron Theater to compete for the illustrious title of Mr. MHS, an annual production by the National Honor Society (NHS) held to raise money for charity. This year, $2,540.26 was raised for AmeriCares, an organization dedicated to improving global health and emergency responses, and Write Off Cancer, an organization supporting cancer patients and their families.
Congratulations and admiration to Mr. MHS 2016 Jayant Sharma, and 1st runner-up Ian Adams, and contestants Matteo Cugno, George Damaa, Alex Frankel, Ethan Greenidge, Marcus Mazzoti, Sean Palmer, Vincent Perella, Michael Walker, and Thomas Walsh for a job well done. Their escorts Bruna Carreiro, Fernanda Cerqueria, Christy Dang, Erin Deasy, Gina DelloRusso, Emma DeRosas, Madison King-Giannino, Victoria Miller Browne, Victoria Raschi, Renee Staude, and Jomely Bretton (who stepped in for the ailing VMB), lent grace and style to the event. Emcees Owen Bailey and Adam Gherbi killed with their “Barack-li” joke and moved the show along with charm. Faculty members Mike McGlaughlin, Max Heinegg, and Dave Ambrose showed off their own talents with the contestants, and celebrity judges Ms. Chyen and Ms. Daneau sparkled with their witty banter alongside MHS alumnus Zach Going and his sage comments.
The production could not have been so seamless without the efforts of officers Michelle Nguyen, Hannah McGillicuddy, Shaima Azam, Serena Do, and Anthony Leccesse; stage and sound managers Vanessa Liu and Ellie Viggiani; lighting director Ramon Fernandes; videographer Victoria Raschi; choreographers Emma Whisler and Luana Padua; and the rest of the National Honor Society members, each of whom worked tirelessly to make it successful.
