Summer Camps & Other Activities

Grades K-6

The Summer Fun Program will be offered through Medford Community Schools at Medford High School.  The program runs for (8) weeks from June 26th – August 18th, for students K-6.  Students will have an opportunity to participate  in a number of activities including sports, games, arts, crafts, movies, swimming and much, much, more.  Families can sign up on a weekly basis.  The program runs from 7:30 AM – 4:30 PM.  The cost is $145 per week and includes breakfast everyday and pizza on Fridays!  Contact the Community Schools Office at (781) 393-2226 or download the registration form here.

Middle School (grades 6-8)

Middle School Computer Science Camp will provide students with the opportunity to explore the field of computer science and design, as well as, program real working mobile apps.  This camp is available to Medford through the Middle School Pathways in Computer Science Program, and is funded by the National Science Foundation, so there is no fee to attend.  Lunch is provided daily.  The camp is located at the McGlynn Middle School.  Camp dates are:  Mon/July 17th -Fri/July 21st.  Camp runs from 9 AM – 3:30 PM.  For information about this camp, please contact Molly Laden at mladen@medford.k12.ma.us

Medford Vocational Technical High School  CTE Explore Camp is for incoming 8th grade students from the McGlynn and Andrews Middle Schools who would like the opportunity to explore the various offerings in career and technical education that are offered at MTHS.  CTE Explore will run for two weeks:  July 10th-13th and July 17th-20th (Monday-Thursday) from 8 AM – 12 noon.  The cost for the two week program is $150 and includes one hour of swimming and a daily snack.  Due to the nature of this program, availability is limited.  Students will be enrolled on a first come/first serve basis.  For more information, please contact Jill Sawyer at jsawyer@medford.k12.ma.us

All Ages

The Medford Recreation Department is offering weekly events all summer.  There are events at local parks, plus Wrights Pond and the Tufts Pool will be opening at the end of June.  All information about Medford’s Summer Recreation Program can be found online at www.medfordma.org/summer or in the Recreation Guide which can be picked up at Medford City Hall, the Medford Family Network, the Medford Public Library, and at many other locations throughout the City. Stop by the City of Medford’s table at Medford Day on June 4 and Circle the Square on June 15 to learn more about the programs being offered and to pick up a Recreation Guide.  To speak with someone about all programs, please call 781-393-2486 or email medfordrecreation@medford-ma.gov.

Ages 0-5

The Medford Family Network hosts Traveling Playgroups in different parks, all summer from 9:30 AM – 11 AM, weather permitting The park schedule runs  Mondays-Thursday.  The Medford Family Network also hosts different events throughout the summer.  To obtain a complete list of the Traveling Playgroups Schedule, along with any MFN special summer events, you can go to medfordfamilies.org.

Sports Camps (ages vary)

The Mustang Basketball Program will once again be hosting a summer camp the weeks of June 26th and July 10th.  Girls and Boys entering grades K-9 are encouraged to participate.  The camp will held at Medford High School.  The time of the camp, is daily, 9 AM – 2:00 PM. and the camps will be held  June 26th – June 30th and  July 10th – July 14th.   Cost per camper – $160 for one week – $290 for two weeks.   Family cost (2 or more children) – $135 per student per week.  For further information, please contact Coach John Skerry at jskerry@medford.k12.ma.us

There will be a Swim Clinic at the Medford High School Pool – August 14th- 18th from 2 PM- 5 PM – Cost $75 per student Ages-8-13 years old – The Swim Clinic exposes swimmers to competitive swim team activities.  Student will watch swimming technique videos, do exercises and drills on land and in the water to strengthen swimming form and efficiency.  They will do relay games. Swimmers should be at least a Level 3 Swimmer, and able to swim on top of the water and float in deep water without assistance.  For further information or to register, please contact Coach Mary Judge at mjudge@medford.k12.ma.us
