Chef Kirk Conrad will join the Medford School Lunch Department staff each Tuesday this school year. His influence and experience will help up us make our already nutritious meals more appealing to a wider audience of students and families. Chef Conrad is a graduate of The Culinary Institute of America and has worked as a Senior Chef at the Top of the Hub Restaurant in Boston. For the past seven years, he has worked with other school districts, including Boston, to bring students a new appreciation of meals at school.
This partnership is made possible locally by Project Bread, an anti-hunger organization in Massachusetts, and Chefs Move to Schools. Medford School Lunch and Project Bread strongly believe that nutritious, well-balanced school meals are beneficial for all students, especially for children from lower-income families. Enjoying healthy foods with classmates at school can reduce absenteeism, improve test scores and develop lifelong eating habits.
We are excited to have Chef Conrad spend six weeks at each school in our district, starting with the High School and Vocational School. Stay tuned for updates and more photos!
